Laura Linney has been hailed as one of America's top well-known actors. She is known as a strong actress that are equally fragile. Her father was an acclaimed playwright. However, she was raised as an only child by a single mom who was a nurse. Through the summer months when she was with her father Linney was able to develop a passion for theatre. Linney eventually pursued acting first in Brown University then at Juilliard School. Her Broadway career shortly after graduating in the year 2000, before making her debut on television the following year. She has been featured on a number of television, film and stage shows since that time. She has been awarded numerous prizes throughout her career. This includes 4 Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. Although she received many awards through the years, performing was always her primary passion.
