Her parents a dental surgeon as well as a teacher recognized and backed her love for theater and acting as early as she was a child. Tautou was a member of the church as well as the Institut Catholique de Paris during her early years, but now dissociates herself from her childhood. In addition to acting, she has also been a model and the spokesperson of L'Oreal Mont Blanc as well as Chanel. Photography is another passion and she recently exhibited her work in the Arles festival under the name Superficial. In her photographs, she focuses primarily on celebrity and fame. The camera's focus is towards journalists who scrutinized her as she rose to fame in Amelie. Audrey Tautou became a star after her international fame was established with her debut role as Amelie Poulain in the film Le Fabuleux Destination d'Amelie. Amelie is an international box office success and has been lauded at numerous award festivals around the globe. The film is still the highest-grossing French film of the French language across the US. Following this success Tautou starred in a wide range of film productions ranging that ranged from British dramatics like Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things to Jean-Pierre Jeunet's film Un long Sunday of fiancailles. She then moved to Hollywood with Ron Howard's direction of The Da Vinci Code, a Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code with Tom Hanks.
